ADHD Resources

Obsidian

Obsidian is a notetaking program that allows users to use unique notetaking techniques and styles allowing for a more creative notetaking process. It has a wide variety of tools and features while still being light weight and future proof. Obsidian plus the Digital Garden plugin is how I made this site!

Google Reading Mode

Google Reading Mode is an accessibility tool bundled into Android 9 onwards. The tool allows you to increase text size, change font, have a text to speech read the text, along with highlighting and underlining the current line. The tool works very well with Pocket, but I’ve seen it have some issues with not seeing the whole body of text in certain browsers.

Google Recorder

A very good recording app for android that not only records speech but can transcribe speech.

Read & Write

Read & Write is an accessibility software meant to help reading comprehension through many techniques, including a focus overlay, text to speech screen reading, highlighting the current word, and more. It is a clunky piece of software but feature rich. It is available through some school’s accommodations. I am unaware of the current price for individuals, but there may be free alternatives out there as well.

Read Later Programs

Save articles and documents to an account, allowing for a more readable format. Pocket is one option, which is compatible with many e-readers including Kobo e-readers. I personally prefer Wallabag, which is either a small subscription or self hosted.

Kobo E-readers

Kobo is my personal recommendation when looking for an E-reader. It allows importing most formats of books, including Epub, PDF, etc. Solid font and text size/spacing customization. A custom reader known as Koreader can be installed allowing for even more customization and accessibility features. I highly recommend using Koreader if you intend to highlight or take notes on Kobo, as the native features often lose progress

Open Dyslexic

Open Dyslexic is a typeface made specifically for those with Dyslexia but is also used by many without it including those with ADHD. The face is designed to minimize the struggles that come with dyslexia and is a huge boon for those who have it. The typeface is available for free and comes pre bundled with Kobo e-readers.

Todoist

Todoist is a feature rich to do list application that allows a good level of flexibility to use how you wish. It has AI tools but they are completely avoidable. Todoist also has compatibility with Google Calendar.

Feedbin

My personal favorite RSS reader. RSS readers allow you to keep up with sites that post articles as well as any site that has RSS feed support. Feedbin also has support for YouTube channels, email newsletters, and is just a really high quality product. A great way to get off apps that want to keep you glued to them for hours.
